About the Artist

All products offered on these pages are the creation of artist Cathrine Bennett. "Cat" first learned the ceramics craft from her mother, as a child of five. A local studio provided the basics, and her mother's enthusiasm provided the rest.

After an eternal hiatus (school, jobs, marriage) Cat finally returned to her first love in 1986. She has been painting and selling ever since - a "hobby that got out of control."

Cat prefers the traditional ceramic techniques of fully glazed pieces, although she will use any medium which she finds is appropriate to creating the desired effect in her ceramic pieces. Recently she has begun experimenting in both fabric arts and stained glass. Watch for her newest creations, coming soon!

About Our Product Line

The majority of our products are hand-painted ceramics. The base piece ("greenware") is produced from commercial molds. Some are owned by the Studio, others are acquired from local ceramic craft stores.

Each piece is carefully cleaned of seam lines and blemishes. Then several coats of underglaze colors are applied, before the piece is fired to a temperature of over 1600 degrees.

The next phase includes "antiquing", where the details are brought out. Glazes are applied, and the piece is fired again.

Lusters make up the next step. These include Mother-of-Pearl, Gold (23 karat), and silver. A third firing is performed.

Finally the non-fired colors are applied. Satin-finish acrylic paints and resin-based glitters are part of this group. The pieces are then assembled (if necessary) with non-ceramic parts such as music boxes and light bulbs. The final product is then photographed, and offered to you on these pages.

There are more than 600 pieces in our inventory, of which about 400 are shown on these pages. If you want something that you don't find, please be sure to write us with your request. We may surprise you!

Wholesale and Catalogs

Don't ask. Because most of the items offered are one-of-a-kind, we do not offer a printed catalog. Wholesale is also not available, for the same reason. Sorry.
